Another mass food distribution is planned this fall from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Dixie Twin Drive-In, 6201 N. Dixie Drive in Harrison Twp.
“These have been a really exciting opportunity for us this summer and fall season,” Truesdale said. “Most folks know we normally do three mass food distributions. So having these expanded food distributions have allowed us to really hone in and focus on this community here in Old North Dayton where there’s really not a lot of services available.”
Dayton Children’s Hospital, CareSource and four other Ohio managed care plans sponsored the event Thursday and volunteered to help pass out food.
“We greatly value Dayton Children’s Hospital and CareSource’s ongoing commitment to addressing the social determinants of health and hunger in our community,” said Foodbank CEO Michelle Riley. “We are grateful for partnerships like these that provide our community members with access to food assistance and wellness services all at once.”
Premier Health offered free COVID-19 vaccines, Equitas Health provided free HIV testing and Moms2B was available with pregnancy resources during the event.
Questions about the distribution can be directed at The Foodbank at 937-461-0265.
